Watch Week April 27 - May 4th, 2023

You're invited to our 13th year of hosting 168 hours of continuous prayer (one full week) for the Great Commission.

Back in 2010, we were challenged to host 168 hours (one full Week) of continuous prayer by "Light the Fire." We took the challenge, and ever since we block off a week each year to take the most important action, we can act upon as children of God. Light the Fire prayer initiative closed out in the year 2020. Last year we launched our own challenge entitled "Watch Week."

We selected to name it Watch Week after Jesus' words in Mark 14, "Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.” The Greek word here, gregoreuo, translated as "watch," is in the imperative... expressing a command by the order and authority of the one commanding, Jesus Christ, which requires strict attention and obedience by us all.  Are we obeying His command to watch? Do we know what Christ is commanding us to do? Christ uses this Greek word for "watch" fourteen times in the Gospels. Here is but one: Concerning the Last Day… “It is like a man going to a far country, who left his house and gave authority to his servants, and to each his work, and commanded the doorkeeper to watch. Watch therefore, for you do not know when the master of the house is coming—in the evening, at midnight, at the crowing of the rooster, or in the morning—lest, coming suddenly, he find you sleeping. And what I say to you, I say to all: Watch!” (Mark 13:34-37).

We set up a schedule broken up into hour segments and invite disciples worldwide to pray. Our prayer is that our Lord empowers us to carry out the Great Commission of preaching, teaching, and baptizing all people of all nations until our Lord returns. ❧
