Mercy Partners started as "Darfur Christian Mission" to aid Darfur refugees.  

If you click on the audio link above you will hear Dinka children singing praise at the end of a class session that I had taught on character. Pictured are a few of the many children that I had the pleasure of teaching, playing, eating with and sharing. Sudan has many downsides some of which include unsafe travel and lack of resources such as clean water and structures, hostile terrain, heat and hostile society however, the young generation of a new Sudan brings delight to the heart. Their resilience is a witness to the endurance of the human spirit in face of adversity. Some of the children had been subject to slave raiders, victims of genocide, and forced rape and bodily mutilation. Each have experienced true hurt, true pain and persecution. As you pray for their well-being they sing songs of praise to teach us that when you have seen the worst of humanity, you are compelled to celebrate the best of God. - Those that have lived in hurt, no longer reside there, they live  in praise.

Water, Food, Shelter and Medicine- All needed for the vast sea of humanity in a desolate region of hostility. Young eyes stare with an empty gaze of disbelief before they see the love of Christ in the provision of their immediate need. We stand firm on giving a hand up and not a hand out to restore dignity and hope.

Yes, the work can be overwhelming and it can be quite easy to lose context that a difference is being made until you consider that the child before you could grow to be the one to lead his people to salvation. Assimulating with the culture is important to maintain culture and balance in the ever present push towards westernization. We strive to place native medics, teachers and Evangelist to carry out the most important work.

Abdulah's father was executed, his mothers womb ripped open to dispose of his sibling, and his sister was vaginally mutilated to death with a barrel of a gun. Abdulah was the sole survivor, left with a slit throat when he entered a Internally Displaced Persons Camp (IDP camp) for treatment due to the work of the proxy militia hired by his own government.  When we met him he was beyond the time needed for one of the most difficult of all surgeries, Tracheal Bypass. It would be Abdulah's second procedure. Since many refugees in his condition never get the opportunity to make it to a Surgent at all, Abdulah's need became insignificant due to the vast sea of the untreated, regardless, his condition would result in death. Mercy Partners had been able to meet the need of Abdulah when all others couldn't . We provided transport and secured the needed operation in Kenya. - Providing for one who had seen the worst of humanity and to demonstrate the Love of Jesus Christ.
